There are many different counter cultures in the United States. Many different groups of individuals a big one is hippies. Hippies are very popular and there are still quite a few people who want to be one to this day, 2018. More big movements were green movement, polygamists, and feminist groups. The green movement is basically the environmental movement so conserving energy, everything green green green, even green politics. Polygamists were people who had multiple wives which is crazy because multiple kids were involved, remember to be loyal. Feminist groups is just the social equality of sexes. So there are many different groups of people back then and even today, many counter cultures.

Counter Cultures is a term describing the values and norms of a cultural group, social mainstream of the day. The 1960's were pretty big back then especially for countercultures. Basically, in that time there were conventional social norms back in the 1950's. The youth did reject the cultural standards of an individuals parents. Racial segregation was also a major deal back then, a lot of discrimination towards each other which was not okay. It eventually spread all over many were discriminating, we should all be fair and treat each other equally which is the right thing to do but back then it didn't really work that way. There was also, a lot of tension many developed by the American society. The war in Vietnam was also effected, race relations, women's rights etc, major things. Hippies eventually became the largest counter cultural group in the United States. Hippies remind me of my good friend that I have known since I was little, she's always happy great personality, even dresses like a hippie and has always dreamed of moving to California and even buying one of those Volkswagen vans and having it painted pink, that is her dream.

The counterculture also had access to a media eager to present their concerns to variety of the public. The counterculture lasted in the United States from 1964 to 1973. The movement did divide the country it reflected with free speech, equality, world peace etc. It eventually collapsed 1973 it collapsed because of two major reasons, civil rights, environmentalism, and the end of the war which was Vietnam War. The second problem was the decline of idealism and hedonism and individuals started their own families. Families grew of course, and the countercultures ended. There was a lot that went on back and some of the matters were very serious. Things still happen now today, but these were the major problems and what occurred during countercultures. At the end of the day everything happens for a reason.
