The Fast and the Furious

Old vs New Cars
VROOOOOOM. BEEP BEEP. That’s what you will hear in every single city in the United States. Personal life and professional life can be frantic, especially if you don’t own your own personal transportation. Getting to one destination to another has never been convenient and easier than before [except if you are stuck in traffic].  Owning a car can make someone more independent because they don’t rely on others for a ride. Although, cars are a negative impact of owning/ using a car, the positive impact of using a car over rank the negative rank. According to an article called “The Pros and Cons of Traveling by Car”, it mentions some good and bad impacts of using a car and explaining why. One of the things that mentioned was the flexibility of owning and using a car. You decided where to start, how fast or slow, and putting items (such as suitcases, etc.). There’s a lot of things that car can do, but how did it start?

In an article called “Automobile History”, it introduces us all about the history of cars such as how the first automobile was invented and perfected in Germany and France back in the late 1800’s. It wasn’t a big thing [unlike now] until the first half of the twentieth century, in which Americans became to dominate the automotive industry.

The automobile has been one of the keys that changed the twentieth century in America. According to a book called “The Automobile Age” by James J. Flink, an author that’s associated with the Institute of Transportation Studies and Professor of Comparative Culture at the University of California, it stated that registration for motor vehicle in the United States has doubled from 1950 to 1970 [49.2 million to 108.4 million]. The author also mentioned that by“1980 about 87.2% if American households owned at least one automobile, and 51.5% owned more than one automobile.” This shows that as time goes on, automobiles are becoming more and more popular and that maybe in the future the features of automobiles will change drastically.

How will car evolve in the future? There are many expectations on how cars will be in the future. According to an article called “What to Expect from Cars of the Future”, it mentions several features that will change the fate of automobile. A few things that mentioned are the disappearance of fuel power, self-driving, and candid camera. At the rate of how automobiles are changing, the hype for automobiles will not fade any time soon.

  1. Onomatopoeia in the opening definitely got my attention even if it was in a kind of funny way. I agree with your sentence about life being a bit more frantic without personal transportation, being a non-car-owning person myself, and i think it appealed to the importance of cars in everyday life. I do wish there was a bit more commentary about car culture currently. There was talk about cars in the past and what they might do in the future, so maybe the next step is to include car facts from now.
