Suggestion

For the the next set of ENG 112 students, I believe a good topic for blog posts could be education. With education you can talk about how it's failing or progressing. You could also talk about new forms of teaching as well as how teaching differs from the past. Education is an important topic and relevant to today's time.

A Right to Bear Arms

           Gun ownership has always been a strange concept to me, why would people want to own weapons that have the ability to take someone's life? I wondered this for quite some time until I thought to myself, maybe I should approach this topic through the point of view of the gun owning people.              In a research done by the Pew Research Center , several American citizens were asked about the reason they owned guns. According to the results, 67% of gun owners say that the reason they own a gun is for protection . This result seems like common knowledge, of course protection would the major reason for owning a gun. Lend a Dollar, or Lend a Hand?

In an attempt to make ends meet, more and more civilians turn to street corners to solicit money, a term referred to as panhandling. Although many homeless people participate in panhandling, not every panhandler is homeless. Panhandlers may also consist of both employed  and unemployed  males and females with or without any ties to family. Typically, they solicit money in areas highly populated by pedestrians or where there tends to be traffic such as, busy intersections. Panhandling can also be found all around the country, in areas where it is both legal or otherwise illegal.  The question is, why do people do it? In Henrico County, Virginia, laws prohibit people from standing in the medians while holding signs. At several intersections they have signs such as the one pictured.
